Our Own Ecotourism Blog Launched!

It has been a few weeks since the launch of our blog focusing on ecotourism and integrated farming in Sri Lanka. The launch was quiet and I currently handle content publishing. Collaboration is always a refreshing idea and I take this opportunity to invite those with a keen interest in wildlife conservation and a pleasant ecosystem to get in touch with us.

The potency of positive collaboration is still a less understood element in society in this part of the world. On the other hand in the US, collaboration is a social spirit, a cultural element and an aspiration in the hearts of many.

When dreams come true

It has been a while since I blogged and I had enough keeping me away from it. It has been years since I left Sri Lanka, the beautiful island in the Indian Ocean and my return has been refreshing. The tranquil getaways into the green forests and ancient villages has permeated much sense into my thinking. For years I have attempted to achieve something I always wanted - a ranch in a truly serene environment. The first phase of it was realized with the lovely desert ranches I had in the Middle East and now it is time to do it all in my own country.

The first thing that comes to mind when one compares the two experiences are the water and heat factors. Water is scare on the surface around my ranch in Sharjah while there are plenty of streams, lakes and ancient tanks in the area I am looking at currently. Next is the heat factor; it sure is a relief from the brain-baking  heat. With plenty of tall trees (teak, mahogany...the list is endless..) and rich vegetation, one is sure to be biased when looking at a similar project in the desert. Sri Lanka is home to a rich variety of wildlife and the excitement has kept our friends in anticipation of the launch of our ecotourism project.

Soil tests, water and air tests - all are necessary to truly prove your sincerity in an ecotourism project and I am leaving no stone unturned to ensure a positive impact to the environment and local communities. This has kept me occupied with much reading. One learns and this never seems to end and I believe in a knowledge empowered businesses model.

Now that I am back blogging, expect more on my ecotourism and integrated farming initiative.

The Broad Mind Knows No Limits!

While English has conveniently become the linguae francae today, percipient to other languages will no doubt broaden your horizons. My journey in this regard began in the late nineties. While I appreciate the six languages I am fluent in today, the seventh Spanish is rusty due to a lack of exposure. Hindi/Urdu greatly broaden one's horizons and in my opinion, this is essential to understanding paradigm shift today in world interest toward the East. Arabic is no less important and is evident in the number of colleges offering Arabic courses.

Hindi films have become a popular gateway towards exposure to the language and culture. I recently found a great song that I first heard in the Sinhala language. It was sung by the late H.R. Jothipala, the inimitable singer from Sri Lanka. Here is the link to the original, sung by the late Mohammed Rafi whose work needs no introduction:

Chale Aj Tum by Mohammed Rafie

Here is the lyrics to it that I have transcribed. Please advise of corrections/suggestions. Thank you for visiting. Let peace and love prevail!
